Attic renovations are an economical form of construction. The least expensive are to stay with those existing walls, and ceiling merely changing and upgrading the wall, ceiling, and floor coverings. The gable walls can be upgraded with better windows and window arrangements. Heating and air conditioning may need to be improved if needed. Another type of attic renovation is to construct a single dormer either in front elevation to improve the curb appeal or existing style to a more interesting design. This accomplishes two things; more upstairs room and a better design of the front elevation. Any type of interior can be chosen by the homeowner. A rear dormer is often the choice of renovation because its back elevation does not have to be fancy. This type offers about 30% in 2nd floor space.
