Part 2: Renovations - Renovations - Renovations

The funds available always determine the types of finishing. Renovations that are most favorable if budget allows is to waterproof any questionable damp foundation walls, then wood or metal frame all exterior walls. Sheetrock is the most preferred finish type, but as stated is extremely labor intensive. Paneling the walls is also practical and the cost of the more expensive material is greatly offset by muchless labor. An upgraded feature would be a tongue and groove wood, shiplap, or stone veneer. The most dramatic is to use a combination of the different materials, such as stone veneer bottom part of wall with a wood or sheetrock to ceiling. Interior wall materials are relative to budget and choice of perimeter wall materials. To expound on all of the above, the slab floor can be finished as well, this renovation is far superior than any other type because it offers a completely finished room from the floor to the ceiling. Renovation of this type requires first to seal the slab. Then install pressure treated strips called sleepers at 16'' intervals with power nails and adhesive. Plywood would then be fastened to the sleepers. Giving you a subfloor that has unlimited ways to finish like the 1st and 2nd floors above. This floor renovation is extremely flexible and can accept all types of finished floors.
