Another type of addition can be to remove the roof and roof frame to construct a second floor on an existing ranch or cape styler home. This type of addition uses the foundation. This type of addition also requires expounding on the old ceiling joists changing them to stronger floor joists. Additions of this type also requires moving any existing wiring and HVAC that are presently running through or across the existing attic. The least expensive addition is to use existing structures that are unfinished that basically fall in the renovation type such as finishing a basement, garage, or any unfinished part of the existing structure. Finishing a basement addition require farming walls, insulation, sheetrock, some other types are wall paneling and sheetrocking the joists or adding an accoustical type ceiling.
