The use of pressure treated wood is the least expensive method of decking & can be preserved after one year with the use of a solid stain,but has to re-coated every couple of years.If not preserved the pressure treated material splits checks & splinters in a few years especially if the deck is in direct sun.Another preservative is a varnish with an excellent UV inhibitor.
